Dear Thetas,

Let me start by saying that it is a privilege to serve our as President (again). I am honored to lead our organization again this year. I accepted the position as President because we have amazing volunteers serving our Theta Alumnae Chapter and I am proud of our chapter. I would like to personally thank Christine Tyng for her phenomenal leadership this past year as President. She invested many hours organizing, leading and facilitating another great Theta year.

In 2010 – 2011, our First VP, Caroline Decherd, who will be the incoming President 2011 -2012, has proved her passion for Theta. She is very organized and timely. For the first time in our Chapter history, we had all our calendar and invitations in the mail in early Fall. Caroline, thank you very much. In addition, she created a new Wine and Cheese Social this year. Thank you to Diane and George Shaw for hosting the event in their home.

We owe special kudos to Allison Zeller who has handled our finances for many years. She has passed the baton to Susan Heinemeyer this year, our incoming Treasurer. Allison has led our Membership drive this year and we have officially DOUBLED our dues paying members! Allison worked very hard these past few years. In addition to her fantastic job increasing membership, she led our efforts creating a Directory this year. The data was very dated and required enormous hours collecting updated data for our members. Our Directories should be mailed around Thanksgiving.

Our Bingo Luncheon is being led AGAIN by Dottie Cooper and Rebecca Flannery. We are blessed to have continuity in the fundraiser and look forward to another great event on March 1, 2011 at San Antonio Country Club.

Again, we have Erica Sloan leading our team of Recruitment volunteers. Erica the time and energy required to manage the massive recruitment process is huge. A huge thank you to Erica and our Recruitment Committee for their commitment to the program. Recruitment plays a significant role for our San Antonio Theta community.

Our Panhellenic dynamite duo, Beth Hittle and Jill Ruggles, have led our Panhellenic program for years.

Last year, Thetas around the world have started a “Theta Service Day” in October. We started a new service day, associated with our Thetas Are Cookin’; it is called “Cards for CASA”. Thetas purchased gift cards for abused children for food, etc. It was a huge success. CASA was overwhelmed with our gift card donations! We are looking forward to a wonderful year for our local Thetas. Please refer to our calendar and other information posted on the SA Theta website www.sathetas.com.

Loyally in Theta,

Michelle Eakin Parchman
